►Understanding drawing

In this first class we will talk about the concept of drawing as an art and some other concepts related to the understanding and functionality of this technique. Also, we will be discussing the wide range and variety of tools that can be used to create drawings (traditional and digital).

►Learning to see

This class is all about perceiving our environment and nature, by that we mean observing everything that exist in our wold and beyond. If you can see something you can draw it. This chapter talks about form, textures and other basic concepts needed to develop a great foundation for your technique.

►Drawing with lines

Lines are marvellous; with lines we can represent everything. This chapter is devoted entirely to lines and how to utilize them to our advantage so that you can get your art concept ready in the least amount of time.

►Proportions

In visual effects and video games you are going to need to draw humanoid figures sooner than later, that is why we need to talk about how proportion plays a big deal when drawing. These classes are mainly focused on human bodies but we will explore some other interesting forms during the journey.

►Perspective

Now that we have our proportions correctly, we need to talk about perspective because flat front drawings are very boring. Perspectives allow us to create more dynamic environments and forms and during this session we will work with different examples that will help you to understand this important concept and how to apply it to your projects.

►Sketching

Sketching is very fun and there is not a better method to generate a concept than sketching. Sketches are a very simple form of drawing that allows you to generate a wide variety of pieces in a minimal amount of time. This part of our drawing course will teach you some sketching techniques and tricks that are going to make a big difference in your production workflow.

►Shading and form

As we move on, we will be introducing a little more complex techniques. Shadows are very difficult for the majority of artists because there is a large amount of situations that can alter the result of that effect. This part of the course is focused mainly in helping you to understand how to apply shadows to your drawings so that they can look a lot more realistic.

►Weight

This is another very important concept of form and drawing. Weight can change the way we perceive volume or even gravity. This part of the training focuses in teaching you how to manipulate weight in your projects, so that everybody can have the same idea that you are generating.

►Cartoons

Who doesn’t like cartoons? Almost everybody loves cartoons and we do to, so in this chapter of your course we are going to teach you how to draw cartoons very easily so that you can start developing your own ideas for characters and other objects.

►Creative exercises

This section of the course aims towards developing techniques for creativity; almost every single artist faces a moment of what I call: “emptiness of the mind”. This chapter is focused on giving you some powerful tips and tricks to stay away from that state and be more productive in any given situation.

►Color

Color is a very complex subject and obviously we can’t cover it in only one session of classes but in this chapter, we will give you access to key information related to color that will improve the way you color your drawings.

►Fantasy & Sci-Fi

This is the last chapter of our training and here you are going to have a lot of fun because it’s all about fantasy and Sci-Fi. In this chapter we will explore some of the concepts used to generate powerful characters, vehicles and environments for your productions. Keep in mind that this chapter is one of those kind that are infinite and we will try to focus on teaching you some powerful tips and tricks that will allow you to take your design into another planet (just kidding obviously).
